The September Core Values Family Event!

Thank you so very much to all our families that were able to make it to our very first Katherine Dunham Family Event! If you were not able, we tried to capture some "magic moments" on film for you!

In terms of theatrics, certainly the "production" could have gone more smoothly, but what with only about 30 minutes of rehearsal, the girls gave each skit their very best shot, and most importantly, knew just what to do to make the right choices in each scenario.

This says a lot about what they've learned over the last few weeks. We've been working very hard on embedding the core values into our daily lessons, ensuring that each of our girls knows how to be scholar, what it means to show merit, to be sisterly and, of course, to be responsible and do the right thing even when no one is watching. These core values help support the work that we do all year long. Feel free to use them at home. :)

They were so excited to share their work with all of you, and so here, we hope to add a small window into their wonderful expressiveness and ownership over these brief vignettes. We hope you'll join us for other exciting family events and viewing of student work in the coming months!

Enely and Brooklyn found tissues all over the bathroom floor! Better do the responsible thing and tell their teacher, Miss Aniyah!

Sanaa and Leilani notice that crayons were left behind during writing.

... Kelsea suggests that it is time to be responsible and put them all back!

... la, la, la... Oh, No! Elangee has no place to sit during lunch!

So sisterly! Jada and Safiyyah made room for her!

Luna doesn't want to finish her homework! She isn't setting a very good example of merit for her little sister, Kaila. Emma as "Mom" convinces her to try her best.

Angelina wants to give up on her reading while sounding out a very tricky word. Angie and Ariana don't let her! They help her sound it out!

Stevonni, Crystal and Essaida discuss what they learned in school! Such scholars!

Mercy, as "Mom" asks Adeyah and Abiola what they did in school that day! Adeyah has so much to say! Abiola, however, says "nothing." They talk it through and find out she learned about computers!
